The grading scale for the Oley Valley Middle School is as follows:

A+ : 96.5 – 100.0+

A : 92.5 – 96.4

A- : 89.5 – 92.4

B+ : 86.5 – 89.4

B : 82.5 – 86.4

B- : 79.5 – 82.4

C+ : 76.5 – 79.4

C : 72.5 – 76.4

C- : 69.5 – 72.4

D : 64.5 – 69.4

F : 0.0 – 64.4

M: Medical

I: Incomplete

P: Passing

F: Failing

WF: Withdraw Failing

The lowest individual grade a student can earn to make the honor roll is an 83%.   Listed below are the requirements for OVMS Honor Roll:

Distinguished Honors – 97% average for all subjects combined.  No course less than 93%

High Honors – 93% average for all subjects combined.  No course less than 90%

Honors – 90% average for all subject combined.  No course less than 83%

Report cards will be available via Home Access Center at the end of each quarter.  If you need assistance accessing your child’s report card, please contact the guidance office. No paper report cards will be sent home. Questions regarding a grade on your child’s report card should be directed to your child’s teacher.

Student Assistance Program (SAP)

What Is SAP?

  • A SAP team made up of school and agency staff is available to help you access school and community services for your child.
  • In Pennsylvania, every school district is required to have a plan for identifying and assisting students who experience barriers to learning.
  • The OVMS SAP team will help you find services and assistance within the school, and if needed, in the community. We do not diagnose, treat, or refer your child for treatment. We will provide you with information and you make the choice(s) that best fit your needs and wishes. As the parent/guardian you are an important part of the team.

Do You See Your Child Showing Any of These Behaviors?

  • Withdrawing from family, friends, and/or activities
  • Changing friends
  • Feeling sad
  • Defying authority, both at home and school
  • Acting aggressively
  • Declining grades

Are You Concerned about Your Child’s Reaction to…?

  • Recent death of a loved one
  • Divorce of parents
  • Family relocation
  • A relationship problem
  • Bullying
  • Other traumatic event

How Does My Child Become Involved in the SAP Program?

  • Anyone can refer a child to the OVMS SAP team, including parents. Some students are referred by teachers or other school personnel. A friend or family member can also let the OVMS SAP team know that they are worried about someone. The child can even go directly to the SAP team to ask for help. Schools will gather information to determine how a student is doing in their classes. However, the SAP team will not proceed unless you give your written parent permission. Once permission is received, the SAP team will work with you to develop a plan of action to help your child achieve success in school. Participation in the program is voluntary.

BERKS CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY CENTER

The Berks Career and Technology Center (BCTC) is a three (3) year accredited program offering 40 career programs in seven (7) career areas and five (5) technical academies with Reading Area Community College and Bloomsburg University.  Students in grades 10, 11, and 12 attend on a half day basis taking required academic courses at Oley Valley High School, while attending BCTC for their career and technical program.  Senior students who demonstrate a high level of competency in their program may participate in a supervised work-based learning experience.

APPLICATION PROCESS - Students apply for enrollment  through the Guidance Office in October of each year.  Applications are submitted by the Guidance Office.
